McMaster Orphan Sponsorship Program 2018

McMaster Orphan Sponsorship Program 2018

About This Campaign

McMaster MSA is partnering with various other student groups to spearhead the McMaster Orphan Sponsorship Program 2018. We are fundraising to sponsor orphans from around the world this year through a campus-wide campaign!

The charity we are working with is SOS Children's Villages, a non-religious and non-political charity that has a stellar international reputation. Additionally, it has schools, orphanages, programs in nearly every country in the world which ensures that this Campaign will be a truly global initiative.  It costs $432 to sponsor a child for one year and $300 to sponsor a village. Each participant can select the location of where their contribution is directed.

Two competitions will be held through Giveffect:
1. Which faculty can raise the most money.
2. Which student club can raise the most money.

We invite you to be part of this great campus-wide initiative!

(Abdul Haleem) Goodness does not consist in turning your face towards East or West. The truly good are those who believe in God and the Last Day, in the angels, the Scripture, and the prophets; who give away some of their wealth, however much they cherish it, to their relatives, to orphans, the needy, travellers and beggars, and to liberate those in bondage; those who keep up the prayer and pay the prescribed alms; who keep pledges whenever they make them; who are steadfast in misfortune, adversity, and times of danger. These are the ones who are true, and it is they who are aware of God. -Sura Al-Baqarah, Ayah 177
