SOS Children's Villages

Campaign to Support SOS Children's Villages

SOS Children’s Villages offers safe and nurturing family homes to around 80,000 orphaned and abandoned children and youth in 134 countries around the world. Since 1949, SOS Children’s Villages has been guided by a basic principle: a loving home for every child.

Thank you to Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks for their hospitality and their generous gift to the 4th Annual Reaching for the Stars to be auctioned off on November 2nd in a great effort to support orphaned and abandoned children in Greece.

CANADIAN DEBUT: EXCLUSIVE Performance of highly acclaimed Composer, Performer, Pericles Kanaris at the 4th Annual Reaching for the Stars on NOVEMBER 2nd!
Pericles Kanaris Music

**Pericles Kanaris is donating all proceeds from his newly composed lullaby, Το Δελφινάκι (The Baby Dolphin), to SOS Children's Villages Greece . The song will be officially premiered at the 4th Annual Reaching for the Stars in both Greek and English.**

Pericles Kanaris was born in Athens, Greece. He studied music and philosophy in Europe and the United States winning multiple distinctions and awards. He has composed music for various international media.

Among other distinguished credits, his composition “Project Innocence”, originally written for film, was given its world-premiere at New York’s Carnegie Hall in May 2007. Greek music has equally been a great source of passion and inspiration since the beginning of his career. In 2000 he formed the Contemporary Greek Music Ensemble which he led with memorable success in major concert venues of Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts.

He is the composer and lyricist of the song “Stin Ygia Mas” that became the title theme for the acclaimed Greek music television program. He is the producer of “Music of Greece”, the first compilation of Greek music ever released by New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art in conjunction with the reopening of its world-renowned Greek and Roman galleries in April 2007. In 2008, building on his Boston experience of presenting Greek music to audiences in America, Kanaris formed Synolon, a New York-based ensemble. Synolon consistently sold out the world music venue Drom in the East Village for consecutive seasons and was credited with changing the presentation of Greek music in the city.

In October 2014 he released his debut album "Aoratos", seven original songs that were composed on the verses of acclaimed Greek poet Manos Eleftheriou and sang by a distinct list of prominent Greek vocalists such as Vasilis Papakonstantinou, Kostas Makedonas, Rita Antonopoulou and Lamprini Karakosta. The album premiered at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center in New York and sold out the historic Pallas theater in Athens, garnering great reviews from the Greek and International press. The International New York Times recognized his music as “a Greek Identity with Global Sounds”. He currently holds a monthly residency at the famous New York jazz club Zinc Bar in the West Village, where he performs an eclectic mix of original and classic Greek songs.

We are thrilled to announce the return of one of Canada’s finest Toronto based Greek food experts and often referred to as “Kalofagas”, Peter Minaki , as our special guest chef at the 4th Annual Reaching for the Stars on November 2nd 2017 (fundraiser for SOS Children's Villages Greece ) at the The Grand Luxe Event Boutique

Peter has been a supporter of our efforts since the very beginning at our inaugural fundraiser in 2014 and has since travelled to Greece to visit the children at SOS Children's Villages in Greece to mentor one of the youth who is aspiring to become a chef.

We are grateful for his support and excited to enjoy an authentic Greek menu!

Thank you so much for your work. I am a regular donor to UNICEF but when I saw your video on the Pappas Post it really resonated with me. I can only give a little at a time but will do so every month.
